As a college student with a disability, you will find that the process of requesting accommodations in college is somewhat different from the process used in high school. In college it is your responsibility, not the Counselors or that of your parents, to do the following:
- Identify your disability, register and request accommodations with the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Disability Services Counselor. (You are required to identify your disability only if you want to request accommodations.)
- Request accommodations as early as possible.
- Provide reasonably recent, adequate and complete documentation of the disability.
- Work with the Disability Services Counselor to identify reasonable, appropriate accommodations.
- Meet the same academic standards and code of conduct requirements as other students at UAHT.
- Meet with the Disability Services Counselor periodically throughout the semester to evaluate your academic progress and needs.
- Update your request for accommodations each semester.
How to Request Disability Support Services
- Schedule an appointment to meet with a Disability Support Services Counselor (Walk-ins Welcome).
- Document your disability to support your request for services.
- Request accommodations as early as possible.
- Follow the outlined sequence to receive Disability Services
