The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana will offer an online Child Development Associate (CDA) program this summer, providing students interested in early childhood education with an opportunity to complete the required coursework for the nationally recognized credential.

The CDA credential is awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C. The coursework prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to complete the 120 hours of training required to apply for the CDA Assessment. “High-quality early childhood education begins with well-prepared educators,” said Dr. Mikki Curtis, UAHT dean of arts, humanities, and education. “This program gives students the opportunity to build the knowledge and practical skills they need to work safely and effectively with young children and to earn a nationally recognized credential. For child care providers aspiring to transition into higher roles, the CDA Credential serves as a stepping stone toward realizing their career goals. By completing the coursework, gaining practical experience, and earning the credential, individuals not only enhance their qualifications but also position themselves as capable leaders poised to drive excellence in early childhood education and care.”
