The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) is pleased to announce a $1,000 scholarship donation from Farmers Union Insurance, presented recently in support of local students pursuing higher education.

Brandy Armstrong, a premier agent with Farmers Union Insurance, established the scholarship, which will be awarded beginning in Fall 2026. The gift will fund four $250 scholarships, benefiting multiple students.

“When I was given the opportunity as a premier agent to donate to a nonprofit of my choice, I wanted it to have the greatest local impact possible,” Armstrong said. “Education opens doors, and investing in students is really an investment in our community’s future. Rather than awarding one larger scholarship, I chose to break it into four smaller scholarships so more students could benefit.”

Armstrong shared that even a modest scholarship can help ease financial stress, encourage students to continue their education, and remind them that their community believes in them.

Kelly Wilcox, director of the UAHT Foundation, expressed appreciation for the donation and its impact. “Scholarships like this make a real difference for our students,” Wilcox said. “We are grateful to Farmers Union Insurance and to Brandy Armstrong for choosing to invest locally and help remove financial barriers for students who are working hard to achieve their goals.”

Scholarship recipients will be selected through UAHT’s established scholarship committee process, which ensures fairness and integrity by reviewing applications anonymously using student ID numbers. The selection process for the Fall 2026 award will begin in Summer 2026, with final verification occurring after the semester’s official add/drop period to confirm student eligibility and enrollment.

Farmers Union Insurance remains committed to reinvesting in the communities it serves by supporting education, local nonprofits, and initiatives that strengthen future generations.

A scholarship reception banquet is planned for late September, providing an opportunity for donors and recipients to meet, connect, and celebrate the impact of these scholarships.
